Ph.D. Program Sequence

A. 36 credits of courses including:

  • Phase I – Focus on Deep Education (3 courses, 9 credits)
    • Deep Education
    • Deep Distance Education
    • Transdisciplinary Education
  • Phase II – Focus on Deep Topics and Conceptual Frameworks (3 courses, 9 cr.)
    • Semiotics for Deep Education
    • Deep Professional Development
    • Global Language Education Policy
    • Video and Deep Teacher Training
    • Deep Language Learning and Teaching
    • Creative Autonomy in Language Learning
    • Critical System Theory
    • Truth Semantics
    • Postcolonial Education
  • Phase III – Focus on Deep Research Methods (3 courses, 9 credits)
    • Autoethnography and Narrative Inquiry
    • Participatory Action Research and Organizational Learning
    • Qualitative Data Analysis
    • Qualitative Statistics
  • Phase IV - Focus on Applied Work (3 courses):
    • Writing a Review of Literature & Choosing a Conceptual Framework
    • Preparing the Ph.D. Proposal: 20-25 pages, 3 evaluators
    • Pilot Study, Doctoral Seminar
  • B. 36 credits of Doctoral Research, including:
    • Course creation (3 credits)
    • Publication of one scientific article or a book chapter (3 credits)
    • Ph.D. research (18 credits)

Late fees for students who finish in more than 3 years: 9 additional credits per year

Ph.D. Defense (12 credits) manuscript of publishable quality

Total 72 credits - one credit = $500; additional credits = $500 per credit

Total cost per student = $36,000 ($9,000 per year during 4 years)

The academic year is divided in three trimesters of 4 months each:

  1. May-August – 15 weeks for courses
  2. September-December – 15 weeks for courses
  3. January-April – 15 weeks for courses

with a 9-day break at the end of each trimester for examinations and grading.

Our courses will officially open after approval of the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board, probably in Summer of 2018.
